"My move went quite quick. They arrived on time, protected my old place and belongings and off they went. Once arriving, they protected my new place with door protectors and runners also. Professional, courteous, extremely friendly and I could go on. Small to large moving I would definitely recommend ..."

Moving Tips from Above Average Moving

Moving is a big step that needs to be planned in advance to eliminate costly mistakes. Planning ahead ensures that you have everything you’ll need during the move & that you get the moving services that meet your expectations.

To make sure your items arrive safely, take the packing process seriously. For instance, you can have books packed in small boxes while the lighter items go into the bigger boxes. This helps when moving since all heavy items will not be concentrated in boxes that are too large, making them hard to move.

The other thing that you should never forget to do when moving is to get all the supplies you need to make the move a success. The supplies include things such as scissors, tapes, boxes, markers & labels. You’ll find that by marking the different boxes with the room in which they are to be unpacked as well as whether the contents are fragile, they are moved with the care they require & the unpacking process will be much easier.

Here are a few packingand moving tips to make your move go smoothly:
  1. Declutter before packing – Lighten you workload by figuring out what to toss, keep, sell or donate.
  2. Purchase quality moving boxes – While it’s tempting to use grocery store or liquor store boxes, the added durability of quality boxes will be worth it in the end.
  3. Us different color labels for each room – Print multi-colored packing labels and give each room its own color. Make sure to label the contents of each box and include the room it belongs in.
  4. Don’t over pack your moving boxes – Use as many boxes as you need to create easy-to-lift boxes.
  5. Use the right boxes – Put heavy items such as books in smaller boxes and lighter item in larger one.
  6. Pack a little everyday – When it comes to packing, break doe your packing into steps. Take one room at a time and spend an hour each day packing up items into boxes.
  7. Double pack the breakables – Make sure to use plenty of packing paper or padding when packing breakables to avoid stress in the long run.
  8. Save space when packing clothes – Pack hanging clothes in garbage bas by cutting a hole in the top of the bag, then placing the garbage bag over a grouping of hangers. Roll clothes instead to folding to save space.
  9. Fill boxes as full as possible – Fill any gaps with packing paper, clothing or foam to avoid item shifting around during the move.
  10. Use pill boxes or straws for jewelry – Use pill boxes for small items like earrings and rings. Place your necklaces through straws to keep the chains from tangling.
